Saturn - Beautiful Gas



Saturn is the planet we always remember because it has the amazing ring around it giving it a rather iconic image. It is a giant gas planet and is the sixth planet from the Sun. It is also one of the five planets we can see from Earth with the naked eye.

It was Galileo who was the first to see Saturns complex system of rings, and because of his eloquent writings, Saturn achieved sort of a mystical image. It is seen as the symbol of majesty, mystery and order in all of the universe. Other planets have ring systems too, but none are as brilliant or as extensive as Saturns. We still dont know what causes the rings but one day hope to through space probes. What we do know is that it is a giant, gaseous planet with interesting atmosphere. There are alternate jet streams going both east and west and the wild circulation has been tracked in its could tops. We think that hydrogen and helium make up most of the atmosphere, and there are enormous storms much like Jupiters Great Red Spot. The clouds and ring are fascinating
