Einstein Was Right - Again

Recently, the Hubble Telescope was the instrument in a survey of the stars and it proved that Einstein was right. There is an accelerating expansion of the universe and his ideas about gravity were also right.

Wow. This was a big deal in astronomy circles. Astronomers gathered from all over the world to look at the galaxies and create a map of distribution of matter in the universe. The map manages to include the distribution of dark matter. The article also confirms that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate, and is being propelled by a mysterious force called dark energy. The astronomers used a technique called weak gravitational lensing, where light from distant galaxies is observed and is said to bend as it travels through space. This also holds with Einsteins theory that gravity rises because matter warps time and space - meaning that light bends near massive objects, such as the core of a galaxy. Einstein had also explained the existence of dark matter in his original theory.

When all was said and done, the scientists found that their data and Einsteins theories held no differences. While they were at it, they used the Hubble Telescope to make hundred of slightly overlapping views of the same patch of sky, which will be used in further research. The project, which was named Cosmos, required nearly 1000 hours of observations to complete. It was a joint effort of NASA and the European Space Agency.

Seems Einstein is still ahead of his time, doesnt it?
